Your backyard is the ocean where the waves splash only a few feet away from your private deck. We're located near the end of Alii Drive overlooking Kahalu'u Bay. Spectacular ocean views to watch sunsets, whales, dolphins and surfers! We are the first residence next to Kahalu'u Beach Park which is known for snorkeling and surfing. We welcome all guests to enjoy our 1960's rustic Hawaiian style home. Our place is nothing fancy but it's an amazing comfortable family home that comes with ocean-front living conditions in the tropics. Sunshine, tropical breezes, ocean spray and gorgeous sunsets.! Usually there are a few weeks in the summer/early fall of warm and humid temperatures, but overall Hawaii has pleasant weather throughout the year! We don't have air conditioning, but ceiling and portable fans. The house has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a full kitchen, large private covered lanai, sun area, outdoor hot/cold shower, BBQ with outdoor dining and swimming pool (solar heated) next to the ocean. Laundry room and off street parking (carport). Experience aloha! We recommend renting a car to get around because public transportation is very limited. Uber and Lyft services are another option but sometimes availability is limited. Street parking can be very busy, but we have a carport/driveway that can accommodate two average sized cars. Occasionally I am on island and near by, but you can always reach me by text/email/phone. If I am in Kailua-Kona, we can coordinate a time for a quick hello and walk-through of the house. Otherwise, our wonderful local caretaker Jeff will stop by once a week for general maintenance of the garden and he is available for any questions or concerns too. Pool service also takes place once a week and they let themselves in and go through the garden. Our home is about a 20 minute drive south from the Kona International Airport and a 10 minute drive to downtown Kona. We are located in the Keauhou area and conveniently located a couple of blocks from the Keauhou shopping center for groceries, restaurants and movies. The south side of our property is bordered by an ancient Hawaiian temple called the Ku'emanu Heiau that is dedicated to the sport of surfing. Adjacent to the temple is the historical St. Peter's Little Blue Church & Kahalu'u Beach Park, one of the best snorkeling spots on the entire island and only a two minute walk. Volcano National Park is about a 1.5 hour drive. We recommend renting a car although there are limited bus and shuttle services. We try to rent our home on a weekly basis only (Saturday to Saturday), but we can be flexible so please just ask and I will try my best to accommodate your dates! Don't be shy to ask for a shorter length of time or different arrival/departure dates. Please note the base price for our home incorporates the addition of the mandatory Hawaii State taxes. The State of Hawaii charges 14.962% and Hawaii county adds another 3% that are added to rental charges and cleaning fees. The taxes are not charged separately, but are within the base price. Holiday seasons are higher. Rates may change/reduced especially for last minute specials. Check-in time: 4:00 pm (sometimes can be flexible) Check-out time: 11:00 am Late check-out may possibly be available for additional fee Maximum 4 guests but occasionally special arrangements for small children may be made with an added fee. We ask that you are honest with the type (adults/children) and number in your travel group. Large gatherings or parties are not permitted. The pool is solar heated and the temperature is dependent upon the weather. We have wi-fi for internet access, but have limited resources to immediately fix should there be a rare problem. We cannot guarantee how prompt the internet provider would fix any issue.
