Ajijic has the largest expat community outside of the United States. It is made up largely of Canadians and Americans, along with Europeans and other people from around the world. Estrellita's is within walking distance to a large grocery store, local fruit and vegetable vendors, restaurants, coffee shops, and retail stores. We are 1 block from the main street of Colón and 2 blocks from the main square in downtown. The Lake Chapala Society is located right next door. It is an oasis for personal enrichment, socialization and collaboration throughout the Ajijic community and surrounding lakeside towns. The plan focuses on improving, modernizing, reinventing and transforming LCS by creating a culture of continuous quality improvement and expanding the use of information technology with greater collaboration between the Mexican and foreign communities. Airport pick-up, rental car, after-hours check-in can be arranged by contacting the inn-keeper. Bus stops are located throughout the village of Ajijic. Buses run about every 15 minutes that will take you through the lakeside villages of Jocotepec, San Juan Cosala, Ajijic, San Antonio, Riberas and Chapala. For further distances, such as Guadalajara (45 minute car ride), you can find a bus depot about 5 blocks from Estrellita's Inn. There is a taxi stand in the central plaza, about 3 blocks from Estrellita’s, where you can find taxi’s waiting. We also have individual taxi numbers on-site should you need one.
