Come experience this unique mid century modern home designed by artist and educator B.C. Binning, a pioneer of the modernist movement on the West Coast. The house is an early example of International Style and stands as one with nature set into the sloped terrain. Towering Douglas Fir & Cedar trees standing guard. Zen vibe. Views to Burrard Inlet & Stanley Park. The 'Keay Residence, 1947' has been featured in exhibits at the West Vancouver Art Museum and in books & magazines. Tres Bon ! The house is located close to the water on Marine Drive and directly below Cypress Mountain in the exclusive Altamont neighborhood in West Vancouver. Chez Momo has 2 bedrooms - sleeps four comfortably plus a single day bed in the living room which is comfy and perfect for the 5th wheel. Water views to Stanley Park & the Salish Sea (Burrard Inlet), private patio and lush gardens, fully equipped kitchen including a Bosch high efficiency washer/dryer, unlimited wifi, smart tv, dvd, BBQ, remote controlled gas fireplace, one full bath with heated terrazzo tile floors, towel warmer & infrared radiant mirror. There are 2 queen size beds, 1 single day bed, 100% cotton towels and linens, green cleaning products, level parking for 1 car (or 2) and storage for bikes & kayaks * EV charger. When I restored & renovated the house it was divided into 2 private residences. I live in the other part :-) From your patio follow the stone staircase that leads to the enchanted garden & forest. Zen vibe * Take a walk on the Centennial Seawalk or check out Dundarave Village shops and restaurants just 5 blocks away. Easy access to public transit that goes directly downtown or west to Horseshoe Bay. There are many beautiful bike rides and walks in the area & beach access at various nearby spots. The house was designed in 1947 by artist B.C. Binning with architect, Ned Pratt (Thompson, Berwick Pratt). It is considered to be an early example of International Style & is on the list of significant modernist architecture. Come and enjoy this hidden jewel and spectacular west coast landscape * In winter experience tequila sunsets. very nice :) no smoking ~ no pets Upon your arrival I will greet you & tell you a few things about Chez Momo.* The keys will be on the kitchen counter. The wifi password is on the bulletin board : ChezMomo2023 . There is level parking for one car (or two) + an EV charger. The driveway is shared with one other car with room for an additional visitor parking spot. Guests park on the east side of the driveway (left of the turquoise door). There is a high efficiency washer/dryer located in the kitchen & natural HE detergent & eco tabs for the dishwasher. In the storage room is an iron & board, drying racks, extra chairs, vacuum, umbrellas, recycling bags, box & the green bin for food waste. No food waste is allowed in the regular garbage in West Vancouver. Items from the green bin are picked up + composted . Feel free to contact me anytime by phone, text or on the Airbnb message system. Let me know if there is anything you need. Relax & make yourself at home at Chez Momo. Explore nature. Have fun :-) Altamont is an exclusive neighbourhood in West Vancouver with estate properties & multimillion dollar homes. Walk along the water or up the side of the mountain winding past secluded estates & lush landscapes. The Village of Dundarave - shops & restaurants is 5 blocks east plus the 25th street pier & seawall walk that will take you all the way to the Lions Gate bridge . . or stop on route in Ambleside for coffee etc. There are 3 lovely playgrounds for children along the beach. . 25th street next to the pier (concession stand), John Lawson Park* (at 17th next to the pier). Check out the award winning fantasy playground made from wood.. very interesting. Children love it! There is also Ambleside beach, skatepark, playground & beach volleyball . . & concessions. Closer to the Lions Gate bridge is the off leash dog park close to the swan pond where blue herons nest in the tall trees. Amazing prehistoric looking birds! There is a single rail line that runs in-between the house and the water. It is not a big deal and people don't complain but you should be aware of it. In the summertime the Rocky Mountaineer passenger train goes up to Whistler in the morning and back down around dinner time a few times per week. Otherwise there are infrequent trains including one or two at night that go by in one or two minutes. Lots of birds come to the garden including some beautiful little humming birds. There is an Eagles nest nearby. You can hear their distinctive cry. Pipe Creek is next door (west). In winter you can hear the rushing water coming down the mountain. There is no shortage of nature. Beautiful walks in all directions. The bus picks up 2 doors down on Marine Drive & takes you on a scenic ride directly downtown in 30 minutes. You can also go west to Horseshoe Bay in 15 minutes. There are excellent bike rides in the area. Take a scenic drive west on Marine Drive to Light House Park, Whyltcliffe & Horseshoe Bay. The drive to Whistler is spectacular on the Sea to Sky Highway. It takes 1 hr & 23 minutes to drive from the house to Chateau Whistler. By car it takes 40-60 minutes to get to & from the house from the airport depending on traffic. From the airport you can get to the house on public transit by taking the Canada Line downtown to Granville & Georgia and then get on the West Vancouver 'blue bus' number 250 Horseshoe Bay or the 253 Caulfeild & get off at 30th & Marine. Cross the street & walk 2 houses west & you have arrived at Chez Momo! Door to door service. Everyone loves Lighthouse Park - 20 blocks west of the house. Also the West Van Museum often has interesting exhibits with an emphasis on mid century modern art & architecture. The Capilano suspension bridge is popular. You can also hike all the way up along the Capilano River to the Cleveland Dam at the top (Capilano Regional Park). Spectacular scenery & a good workout. Lynn Valley suspension bridge is also nice for an adventure. Avid hikers love the Grouse Grind .. direct up Grouse Mountain.. where you can see bears at the wildlife refuge.. You can also take the gondola up. In the summer there is the Shipyards Night Market on fridays from 5-10pm (may 1 - sept 25). The Ambleside Farmers Market is on Sundays (in the summer months) from 11-4. Children like the fantasy playground at John Lawson Park near the pier. So many things to do.. Feel free to ask me questions. I'm happy to help :-)
