All short drives from the resort: Green Sands Beach, South Point Cliffs, Kilauea Volcano, Ka’u Coffee Mills, and so much more. Greens Sands Beach is the only natural beach in the world that encompasses beautiful green sand made out of olivine crystals. South Point cliffs are the most southern point in the United States and are world renowned for its amazing views and cliff jumping excitement. In the other direction, Kilauea constantly spews out lava in the Volcano National Park for all to see year round. The Ka’u Coffee Mill is famous world round for it’s superior unique coffee taste- see the farm itself and take a tour of the beautiful uplands of the Ka’u district. The island itself is the only place in the world that contains all 7 geographic climates. Explore icy tundras in the winter, lush green rain forests, and of course the beautiful relaxing beaches throughout the district and island. REVIEWS: Tim - April 2021 - Wonderful complex and great unit with beautiful views to wake up to. Very beautifully decorated and stocked with extra things you might need like towels, blankets, and kitchen items. We found the place to be as described on Airbnd, very clean, and quiet. Amazing spot to star gaze on a clear night, we were totally in awe." Janice - Mar 2021 - Great views and a nice quiet location. We loved every moment of our getaway. Kathryn - 2/8/18  Situated between Kona and Hilo, away from tourists and commercialism, this is a great condo. Looking past the green golf course from the back patio is the beautiful blue of the Pacific. You can hear the waves crashing against the rock, which was so incredibly relaxing at night. Depending on how fast you walk, Black Sands Beach is just 5 minutes away and each time we visited, we were awed by the sea turtles that bask in the sun on the black sand. Although the waves were too rough for us to snorkel or swim (we were there in January), there is a lifeguard for others who are more experienced and daring. The condo was what we expected and was clean and had all basic kitchen and bathroom needs. The one bedroom is spacious with an adjacent bathroom, and the only bathroom in the condo. It was also nice to have access to the condo's washer and dryer and traveling with kids is dirty business! My younger son and I slept on the pull out sofa bed and found it to be not only easy to pull out and put back, but surprising comfortable. Plus, sleeping on the sofa bed meant that we were closer to the sounds of the crashing waves against the rock...not a bad exchange for an actual bed at all! We did not use the pool but it looked inviting. The grounds were kept clean and the office staff was friendly and helpful. Although I'd make sure you keep all doors closed due to uninvited bugs, sitting out on the patio made for some adorable guests. Tiny birds littered the green grass while the occasional gecko or two would casually scamper by. If you're into hiking, I'd also recommend taking a drive to Green Beach's parking lot (about a 20-25 minute drive away) and taking a gorgeous 5.5 mile round trip hike along the ocean before reaching Green Beach. Even if you're not into the hike, the locals are waiting to take people to the beach's cliff area (you have to walk down a steep hill to get to the actual beach) in their 4X4's for a fee (not sure how much since we didn't do it). However, be warned--there are no bathroom AT the parking lot or the hike or Green Beach. There were also no garbage cans that we could find, so just be aware. On your way out of the parking lot, just before highway 11, don't forget to stop at Hawaii's Local Buzz "farm". You can sample and buy delicious locally made coffees & seasoned or chocolate covered macadamia nuts, get water, and perhaps more importantly, meet their super cute tropical birds! There is also a deli/ice cream/souvenir store not far from the condo that professes to be located at the most southern tip of the US. You can sit outside and eat or take your food to the beach, as we did. As I said before, this condo is a great... Leah - April 2018 - “The Colony onr beach front condos, are a private piece of paradise. Only about 30 minutes from Volcano park. We explored the park all morning, went back to swim at the black sand beach all afternoon and saw a ton of turtles, and then drove back to see the red glow of the volcano at night. The community is beautiful with breathtaking views in a completely undeveloped area. We live in the landlocked midwest so we wanted to stay near water and not in Volcano Village while we visited the National Park. This place was perfect. We loved the pool and the hot tub. We met a super interesting local who was spending a few days there with her family and she shared all about her favorite things on the Island and about the health of the marine life nearby as she was a marine biologist. I will say they are super strict about the pool rules. My children were always supervised, but they would not even let them play with one small dive toy- so when they mean no toys at all- they mean it, not just the big floaties. This was not a deal breaker for us, and no one was unkind about it. My kids still loved the pool and hot tub and there were other children playing there as well. Unit 17 was a great location, because it had beach views and was the second to last unit in the row, so it felt a little more private. We all agreed we could spend a month there, just gorgeous! The unit does not have air conditioning, but none of the condos we stayed at did during our week long trip, so you need to open all the windows and use fans at night. We used both the bed and the sleeper sofa and everyone was comfortable. I highly recommend this place- it was great!” "W" Dec 2018 - The resort unit we got was great, fits 4 people nicely, checking-in was a breeze. The renowned Green Sand Beach is less than an hour away. The property is a unit in a resort, the pool, spa, golf course nearby were great, the panorama view from patio is the ocean. We were very grateful that Julie helped us to get a unit that fitted 4 people even after we booked the wrong unit. Thanks! Samantha -Dec 2019 - “We enjoyed the clean and roomy living & sleeping spaces. Great location, too!  We enjoyed the clean and roomy living & sleeping spaces. Thanks, Julie, for helping to make our stay in Pahala a memorable one!”
