Please book in town. The ranch is on the mesa, above the river valley where Durango is located. It has 2 min. access to HWY 550. Rural, not wilderness. Suitable for 2 Adults. Not suitable for guests who prefer to be within walking distance of shops and restaurants.Pet free/smoke free. A 20-30 minute drive to town. Location: Open sky sunrise and sunsets, stars at night, outdoor seating, distant views of the mountains, and a pastoral setting make 2ndWind Ranch a good choice for guests who wish to be outside of the busy town activities and traffic of Durango. IF YOU PREFER CLOSER PROXIMITY TO DURANGO, please search for listings within the city limits. We are 12 miles east, out of Durango on the mesa. Durango Airport: 15 miles from the Ranch. We highly recommend advance planning with an on site Airport car rental service. Taxis and/or Uber are limited and very expensive! Casita Furnishings: Our first priority is cleanliness and comfort. The bed, linens, and dinette area are coordinated to feel like home. The spacious shower/bathroom suite has two windows which provide natural light, fresh air, and is well stocked with toiletries,towels, hair dryer, iron and ironing board. Kitchen Amenities: We offer basic supplies for a self serve continental breakfast.The mini kitchenette is equipped with tableware, cookware, microwave, hot plate, refrigerator with freezer, toaster, blender, coffeemaker, electric kettle , electric skillet, toaster oven, and crockpot. Sleeping Arrangements: The Casita has a queen size pillow top plush mattress bed in a studio style, one room layout. Media: DVD Entertainment ONLY No CABLE TV Wifi is available , but slow >6mbps Not recommended for business purposes. Guests have full, use of the Casita , with private entrance, and outdoor seating in front and back of the building. 2ndWind Ranch Casita is centered in between the barn and the main ranch house. There is a 20' wide driveway that separates the guesthouse from the main ranch house and our other Airbnb accommodation - 2ndWind Ranch Aspen Suite. We are generally on site and easily available to our guests. Ranch activities include gardening, landscaping, and field irrigation. We no longer have horses on site, but can refer you to our friends at Over The Hill Outfitters for trail rides. We offer you a flexible "self check in" option, which is described in the welcome email sent five days prior to your arrival. . We love the stars at night, birds singing in the morning, and the wide open fields with horses, cattle, and sometimes sheep along the Mesa. The road that we are situated on has very light neighborhood traffic that is conducive to a morning or evening jog or stroll. Across the highway, there are county roads that lead down to the Animas River for serious runners or joggers! We also recommend the River Trail that follows the Animas River on both sides of Durango for about 9 miles, is paved, and user friendly for bicycles, joggers, and foot traffic. The River Trail has many access points throughout Durango, and also from the Santa Rita Park and Visitor Center. For delicious deli, bakery and natural food "grab and go" choices for your outdoor excursions, we recommend "Nature's Oasis" on Camino Del Rio, just alongside HWY 160 on your right as you approach the Santa Rita Park and Visitor Center. Many local restaurants feature ordering online and to go menus. You will need your own vehicle to explore the area. Plenty of onsite parking for your vehicle. 2ndWind Casita is not suitable for children and infants. Reservations limited to 2 adults . Accommodations are pet free due to consideration for guests with allergies. We do not accept reservations for guests with pets. Smoke free. No smoking of any kind. Slow Internet: Please bear in mind that rural mountain areas typically have slower speeds for wifi. Guests who want to conduct business usually prefer locations in town, where fiber optic cable provides higher speed wifi. Entertainment: No cable or satellite TV on this property. Instead, we offer a large library of dvd entertainment. Cleaning: To keep booking rates lower, we do not charge for cleaning! We hope that when you use the kitchenette for cooking, you will show the courtesy of cleaning your own dishes and putting away or disposing of food. Please wipe up grease or spills. Let us know if you need anything for mishaps. Pets We maintain a pet free environment in the Casita for accommodating guests with allergies. We do not accept reservations for guests traveling with pets. Recycling We support the environment by recycling. Recycling is available for clean, rinsed glass, plastic, or metal. There is a smaller waste basket that is especially for recycling located below the sink in the cupboard. It is important to RINSE before putting recyclables in the basket. Large recycling collection can is located in front of the east pasture fence next to regular trash bin. Smoking Please, no smoking of any kind in the Casita. Our property is smoke free. BBQ grill In season, a shared use BBQ grill is available for our family and guest use.
