Easy access to Kalani resort and Uncle Robert's market events. Sleeps 4. Kids welcome. "Balmy weather and tropical breezes, island style, green surroundings, abundance” Private guest house in nice setting. "We loved this place", wrote recent guest, "the host was great -- brought us fresh fruit one day! -- and the accommodations were just what we needed." The house is located in a small neighborhood, great for morning walks, and there is a nice beach nearby. The Honey House got its name from our previous days of using it to process honey when we kept bees. It was completely renovated several years ago and a new kitchen and bathroom added on. The bath features a deluxe shower with sliding doors that open into the orchard. The Honey House entry is at ground level with off street parking right outside. It has lots of windows and fans for a cool breezy interior on hot days. Honey House is a unique detached private garden cottage. Equipped with a full kitchen, gas stove and lovely bathroom with a big tiled shower that can be opened to the outside with sliding doors. Whole house water filtration and ultraviolet provide safe water at all faucets. We have good WIFI, but for cell phone coverage you need to go about one mile. Honey House is equipped with a king size bed and a fold out queen futon sofa for a 2nd bed if needed. We are situated on a lush rain forest acre of land a couple of blocks from the ocean. Our acre has mature fruit trees including oranges, avocados, coconuts, bananas, and exotics like sapote, jaboticaba and surinam cherry. We share fruit with all our guests, whatever is in season. Delightful flowering plants like night blooming jasmine and mock orange send their heavenly scents into the air. Our gardens and land is all clothing optional and secluded. Our Nectar House is listed separately, but is on the same 1 acre property. You can walk through the neighborhood and down a trail to nearby clothing-optional black sand beach, about a 5 minute walk. We also offer shared access to our outdoor solar shower, and our peaceful gardens. Kehena is a quiet neighborhood with lots of character and tropical lushness. Within a few miles there is a big farmer's market, often with live music on Wednesday night, both are great for eating the local foods, take away food and all kinds of produce and gifts. Local dining also includes the Kalapana store and deli, Kalani resort and plenty of restaurants in Pahoa town. We are 5 miles from the active Kilauea lava flows which can be seen by taking a hike, bicycle and hike, or by boat, helicopter or plane, depending on daily changing conditions. There is a warm spring swimming pond 10 miles down the rustic Kalapana-Kapoho Rd. There are also plenty of snorkeling opportunities nearby. Dolphins often frequent our beach. Humpback whales come through in the winter months. Price includes Hawaii GE and TAT taxes and Airbnb surcharge. STVR Registration Number: STVR-19-359535 NUC Number: NUC-19-1078 Guests get the whole Honey House to themselves and can roam the garden and orchard and outdoor shower. Dave lives on site, in the house next door, and can help you with any needs or questions. Our neighborhood is a small and rural. People here are generally easygoing and relaxed. It is usually quiet but can get noisy as can any neighborhood. It is a green place, lots of trees and shrubbery. Coconuts, mangos and guava are common. There is a bus, but it runs infrequently and it is really best to rent a car. Its the tropics, there are bugs and wild life. You will likely encounter harmless and beautiful house geckoes in the house. Cocqui frogs make a loud chorus at night. There sometimes wild pigs walking around late at night, use a flashlight and be aware.
