Two lanais are perfect for evening Mai Tais or morning Kona coffee. This large end unit is only 50 yds. from the pool, yet has complete privacy. It's on the ground floor so there are no steps, and it is completely handicapped accessible, even the newly remodeled master bath. You are very close to one of the 2 villa pools and it has a large bar-be-que and picnic area on the end where the hot tub is. Great for eating with family or groups. You can also use the Olympic size pool, and tennis courts near the golf clubhouse, and get reduced rates on the golf course. Our favorite beaches are close by: Hapuna State Park, Mauna Kea (have to get there by 9am to get public pass), A Bay, and 69 Beach just south of Hapuna. Banjy's Restarant is a 3 minute walk away at the golf course, and there's several other good restaurants and a grocery store just 3 minutes away by car in the village shopping center. Kawaihae is a cute harbor town just 9 miles up the road with several good restaurants, and great whale watching, snorkeling , and swimming with the dolphins boat trips. On the Big Island you need to rent a car no matter where you stay. There is very little public transportation, or it's spotty. You can take a Grand Circle tour of the island that takes all day, and you can catch it at the Marriott Beach Hotel which is 5 miles down the road. You must take one of the provided guest passes to use the large pool, tennis courts, or get the reduced golf rate.
