We are happy to welcome guests like you. Aloha! A short 5-minute drive will take you to the cute town of Honomu, enroute to famous Akaka Falls. If you want to enjoy breakfast out, there's 100% Hawaiian grown coffee and a wide selection of healthy yet tasty breakfast menu items at Shark's in Honomu, my favorite breakfast place! Just 10 miles north of Hilo, our cottage is close to major attractions in Hilo and allows for short drives to other popular sites such as Volcano National Park, Botanical Gardens and surfing spots. Location also makes for easy and scenic day trips to attractions on the north and west side of the Big Island, such as Waipio Valley, Hapuna Beach and the towns of Honokaa, Waimea and Kailua-Kona. Pack a picnic with the coolers supplied in the cottage. When you're done exploring and just want to relax, simply pull up the patio chairs and table, open a bottle of cold beer or have a glass of wine and set your eyes on the stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. To top it off, why not have a barbecue? Just buy your favorite beef, chicken or fish...and all the fixings and you'd be on your way to a lovely, delicious and relaxing evening in paradise! There's a stream adjacent to our property with a neat swimming spot. Our large yard is great for kids playing ball or family playing frisbee. Patio is great for an evening of bbq or simply relaxing on the lounge chairs and marveling at the ocean or the night skies. There’s a dedicated parking space conveniently located next to the cottage. Washer and dryer is also easily accessible just outside the cottage, dedicated for your use during your stay. I love to meet my guests, personally welcome them and introduce them to our cottage and ohana. We also respect the need for privacy and our cottage is set up perfectly for our guests to truly enjoy their stay and have their privacy too! Needing more space that offers tranquility, natural beauty and is within a short drive to Hilo for my family, we were delighted to have discovered this location several years ago. And the bonus is, it comes with great views of the Pacific Ocean and the top of Maunakea. On clear nights, it is SIMPLY AWESOME to see the amazing night skies!!!! The breeze is also great! At night, the cool mountain breeze is such a blessing for a good night's sleep. In addition to the views and peaceful surroundings, this place also offers lots of space to either run or walk. And one of the most appealing and unique benefits is listening to the sweet, therapeutic and wonderfully musical sounds emanating from the various birds! Sighting the different birds is also quite an experience! A rental car is a necessity while vacationing on the Big Island. Public transportation is very limited. Kindly note - need to add 14.41% tax (subject to change per current county and state laws) to the listed nightly price since Airbnb does not handle tax collection and payment in the State of Hawaii. This tax is required and is in turn paid to the government.
