This is rural Hawaii, therefore, you will likely see geckos and insects during your stay, however, you will be surprised at how few bugs there are. Bug repellent is provided but it never hurts to bring your own. One thing you won’t have to worry about is snakes, as they do not live in Hawaii. 2. This is simple living in paradise, complete with the meditative sounds of coqui frogs to lull you into a blissful slumber! The coquis sound like birds chirping at night. 3. You will be staying in a Hawaiian Rainforest so expect some showers! The rain is a valuable resource of off-grid living, it travels from the roof into water tanks and will eventually be used for the shower. 4. Since we do run off rainwater the water is not potable, jugs of water will be provided in the fridge for drinking and cooking. All of these aspects are what makes this place so unique and, with the right mindset, they’ll only enhance your overall experience.
