Beautiful small cozy home in a peaceful fishing village: Chelem, Yucatan. It is located walking distance to the town square, 400 mts to the beach and 350 mts to the lagoon. You can practically get anything you need within walking distance, it's a BEACH LIFE so enjoy it. The front yard has a double picket fence which can allow you to park a midsize car diagonally in the front yard if you like. Across the street is a small Mom & Pop grocery store for picking up last minute things. Please remember to greet the locals with a courtesy waving of the hand, when you go into a place of business it will be always nice to say "Buen Dia" (Boo-ehn Dee-ah) wish is good day. You'll be surrounded by locals, you will soon learn that they are some of the most friendly and hospitable people you will ever meet. Chelem, Yucatán, México This is a typical and traditional Mexican neighborhood if you are looking for a total and different immersion experience into the real Mexican culture. In front of the property there is a small convenience store owned by Alex and Fatima (who are the caretakers of the house) to get basic groceries. You can ask Fatima for local transportation, Uber is also available. This is a lovely house with amenities. It has two comfortable queen size beds (not easy to find in Mexico) with a beautiful modern décor. It is located only 4 blocks from the Town Square and 4 blocks from the ocean and lagoon (approx. 500m). Please be aware and understand that this is a small rural fishing village in Mexico. That means that you will encounter very friendly people, but part of their tradition is that they love to listen to pretty loud music at various hours of the day... and night sometimes, and they have dogs who might bark at moments. They also have other life priorities than cleaning the street. It is an extremely safe area (the safest in all Latin America!). We are also tropical. You might see or encounter wildlife while in our home or neighborhood, including, but not limited to: raccoon, birds, bees, wasps, lizards, mosquitoes, bugs, spiders, ants and more. These creatures reside in nature and we have no control over them. We prefer to live in peace with them, and we hope you will also enjoy their beauty while respecting them and our great planet which provides us with the pleasure of such beauty. Also we cannot control mother nature and therefore we have a no refund policy if you believe it is too hot, too windy, if power goes out do to storm or if there is too much rain... you get the idea. If you bring a car you can park outside of the property on the street. If you do not have a car or just want someone else to drive you around , you can take a little scooter taxi around the town or for longer distances you can use Uber. There is a restaurants call Bull Pen where you can meet the local expatriates living in the area. They often meet there for bingo and other activities. The restaurant is two blocks away from the property. Note the price per night includes basic electricity and amenities. During the summer months please be responsible when using the A/C and fans so if you are not in the home please shut them off due to high electricity bills. This will help us keep cost down and allow us in return to have a reasonable nightly stay rate for you and all future guests. Please note that Chelem does not have a reliable internet connection. Despite working really well overall with email, videos etc. If your work requires heavy internet usage for dowloading/uploding large files, you may have some problems. This is due to the high demand and not enough coverage in Chelem and Chuburná. Unfortunately this is out of our hands.
