Although we give our guests 100% privacy, either of the two hosts will be happy to answer questions you may have about the local area. Please contact us at your convenience using the AirBnB App messaging system. Waikoloa is the area of the Big Island with the most beautiful, accessible, and non-crowded beaches. It is a residential area and you must have a rental car. There is nothing besides a nice walk, within walking distance. When booking this space you can have 1 car parked in the driveway an no one can be on property who is not a registered guest. This is a residential neighborhood so only people who respect the working local population of the island are welcome. The neighbors are teachers, nurses and tourism staff that work non traditional hours. Therefore we ask all guests to be respectful to keep all noise contained within the house; including simple gestures such as taking phone calls indoors as opposed to outside where neighbors will hear you. Please even be noise aware with your car when shutting doors and refrain from chirping car locks. There are no parties allowed. The county regulated vacation homes to strict quiet hours during the dark. That said a quiet community brings its own unique peaceful charm. Here you will find everything you need with a balance of beautiful natural surroundings. Waikoloa sits on the slopes of the majestic Mauna Kea and the village is the closest residential area from which to explore the summit of this natural wonder and heritage site. Waikoloa is known for the wind that clears the skies creating beautiful views out to the ocean where you can see the islands of Maui and Lanai in the distance. Waikoloa's dry forest is also home to a majority of Wiliwili trees found in the entire world. Within the village are quaint restaurants, convenience shopping, and one of the most reasonably priced golf courses in the state. A 15 minute drive will take you to Anaeho'omalu Bay, Hapuna Beach, and many other hidden gems are the nearby Waikoloa area beaches. The Big Island is..... BIG. People do not realize how far the sights are from each other. It takes 12 hours to circle the island. You must have a rental car to make the most of your Polynesian vacation. Ride shares are not often available and are simply not economical due to the distances. The closest shopping center with a grocery store, a few restaurants and gasoline station is a 5 minute drive. The shoreline is 6 miles from the house which takes about 12-15 minutes to drive. Waikoloa is in the district of the Kohala Coast which has the most beautiful beaches on the island. Waikoloa Village is also the most centrally located area in relation to the major towns making it a great home base while on the Big Island. Shoreline 6 miles West Kona 25 miles South Waimea 18 miles North Hilo 60 miles East Please reserve your rental car while booking your flights. The airport at which you fly to and from is the most convenient location to pick up and drop off your rental car. This is a true island home, it does not have heating, does not have air conditioning and currently no TV. Sorry, the rest of the home is not accessible to this Airbnb rental so there is not a kitchen or laundry available on site- so it is similar to a standard hotel, providing only a bedroom and a bathroom, but a much better price than the hotels in Waikoloa. At approximately 800' elevation, it is a reasonably comfortable temperature year round. There is free wifi available. The driveway is steep and a garden path leads you to your private entrance. This neighbourhood is nice with an active early morning community of walkers and joggers before work. We host guests who are respectful of the residents of Hawaii Island and the quiet neighborhood. If your are the kind of person who wants to hear the birds instead of playing a device out side you are welcome here. If you are the type of person who manually locks a car door instead of chirping a remote that all the neighbors can here, you are welcome here. If you are the kind of person who uses a closest and would never dream of putting a suitcase on a bed, you are welcome here. If you are the kind of person who leaves the beach nicer than the way you found it, you are welcome here. This vacation rental is for those who travel lightly, live simply and enjoy nature. All Airbnb rentals in the State of Hawaii are obligated to charge, collect and file tax- TAT 10.25% and GE 4%. Please note this will be added to your price.
