The house has 3 floors. 1st floor: a comfortable livingroom, kitchen stove, refrigerator, coffeemaker, toaster, microwave, dish-ware, utensils and basic implements, dinningroom, one bath and a hall. 2nd floor: complete bathroom, 2 rooms are interconnected, 2 rooms are interconnected each one has a door lock, the rooms have closets and hangers. 3rd floor: complete bathroom, 2 private rooms and a terrace with a view to the Panecillo and the volcano Rucu Pichincha. Furthermore, the area has its own town square, a small park featuring an elegant fountain where children and senior citizens alike come to spend time, while local street vendors sell their goods. About 20 years ago, however, due to its attractive nature and low-cost of the area, a growing community of artists and writers began to settle here, and the resultant mix of classical homes and avant-garde art galleries, as well as the large murals painted on the sides of buildings, enhanced La Floresta’s reputation, which began to grow both locally and abroad. During the day, you can walk past the old mansions and new wall murals while enjoying the variety of galleries, restaurants, pastry shops, clothing stores, and creatively-designed cafés. Anybody vising La Floresta (Católica and Orellana is a recommended starting point) should consider dropping by the following venues. A five minute walk (Isabel la Católica) brings you to gourmet restaurants with Local food, Seefood, Japanese, Italian, Spanish and Chinese food, pizzerias and vegetarian restaurants. There are also bars and cafes and independent cinema, theatre, bookstores, organic fruit and vegetable markets, handicraft stores, spas and yoga. A supermarket is located just 100 meters away and on Fridays a popular market is set up. Due to the five universities located nearby, the Floresta is home to many young students and foreigners. Transportation: • Along the Avenue 12 de Octubre/Plaza Artigas (200 meters away) run various urban bus lines that connect the Historic Center, the North and the South of Quito. • There is a taxi cooperative that functions 24 hours at Swisôtel (500 meters), you can also stop any taxi in front of the house, nevertheless we recommend to call secure taxis. • On the Avenue 6 de Diciembre (just 800 meters away) is the Ecovía station Baca Ortiz. • The bus stops for the buses heading to the valleys of los Chillos and Tumbaco are a 10-minute walk (Madrid street) • Two bike routes go by our house – a transportation option gaining popularity by the day in Quito.
