Meals served in rooftop restaurant with spectacular views. The adventurous can trek on our land or further, those seeking peace can sit and marvel at the views/swim in our pool. Upgrade to larger room with private balcony possible. We are a private nature reserve with some comfortable accommodation. This room is small but comfortable, with 2 single beds at the same height, which can form a large double if you like. All our rooms have antique 4 poster beds with mosquito nets, although there are few mosquitoes here. Each room has a private bathroom with a hot shower. We have 102 acres of rock and jungle on top of the famous Ravana Ella waterfall. There is a series of falls at the edge of our land, which is now a protected Wildlife area, but you can see the falls from our land. The legend of the Ramayana tells how the evil Sri Lankan King Ravana held the beautiful Indian Princess Sita captive in a rocky cavern with a pool in Sri Lanka’s hill country. Maybe it was here! If you prefer a larger room with a private balcony overlooking magnificent views, you can book "Ravana's Secret, Ella, nature+luxury 1" or "Ravana's Secret, Ella, nature+luxury 4" Unless we are full, as well as eating in this villa's dining room, guests in the lower priced rooms can also have meals in our rooftop dining room. You can visit it for free - the view is amazing! You are welcome to have lunch ($8 per person) A 5 COURSE DINNER IS INCLUDED IN YOUR ROOM PRICE. You will also have free access to our mini botanical garden and all our jungle paths. We can also provide "jungle lunches" outside in good dry weather. I like guests to feel they are staying with friends although I don't want to invade their privacy if they want to be alone. If I'm away for any reason, my assistant will be happy to look after you. We are pretty well in the middle of nowhere, but it's well worth finding us! We have amazing views of mountains, valleys and farmland throughout our 120 acres of land and are lucky to be 1.5km. from the public road to ensure a real country setting. The nearest village is 10 minutes by car. Ella's famous waterfall - fed by the waterfalls at the edge of our land, is about 30 minutes away. Ella town is about 45 to 50 minutes' drive. The nearest place for good shopping is Bandarawela, a 30 to 35 minute drive from us. At the end of our 1.5km. approach road you can catch a local bus to Bandarawela town. Buses at certain times of day are sometimes missed out, so do check with us first! The nearest train station is Heel Oya, about 20 to 25 minutes' drive. Ella station is about 45 to 50 minutes' drive and Bandarawela station about 30 to 35 minutes. The most reliable method of access is by tuk tuk (3 wheel taxi). We can recommend a reliable driver. Guests should note that our 1.5km approach road is shared with local farmers. A short part of it needs repair, but the local authority don't have funds at the moment. Tuk tuks can access it reasonably well, as can 4 wheel drive vehicles and vans. Saloon cars built low on the road may find it difficult. Please note that we do not have a licence to serve alcohol and are not a place where you can walk down the road to get a beer after dinner! The nearest place for alcohol is 30 mins.' drive. You are welcome to bring wine or beer with you, including your purchase receipt in case the customs department make a spot check! However we do recommend our special food! We do not allow self catering and also respectfully ask that guests do not bring meals bought outside to eat anywhere on our premises. Bring good walking shoes if you want to explore.
