Our land is vast and remote and features many outdoor places to enjoy ! We are a safe haven where you can experience holistic healthy living. On the North Shore, we are blessed with trade-winds, so we have no need for air-conditioners. Our water is provided by a well with the most delicious alkaline water from the volcanic aquifer.ur well-being. We offer greens from our organic food- garden, eggs, and fruits for purchase, along with our coconut kefir that will enhance your well-being. We are staffed by our family and community— During check-in we welcome our guests, show them around our beautiful property, and explain the foundations of regenerative living. We are deeply honored to share this place with you – our responsible traveler. With your understanding of how fragile this island is with big tourism, you make a conscious choice to support the local community and the Aina (land) by staying with us. Loving reminder: you may encounter during certain times of the season, our little nature friends such as: geckos, ants, spiders, or frogs. We are chemical-free and use specially made nontoxic remedies only. Where will I be staying: Welcome to our Indian Room, located on the second floor of our Opua house. This cozy and tranquil space offers breathtaking views of the Haleakala crater, the ocean, and our lush jungle-like garden through windows on both sides. The room is tastefully adorned with treasures from India and Tibet, and boasts beautiful black bamboo flooring, adding a touch of Asian-meditation vibes. The spacious mirrored closet doors create a sense of openness, while the inviting bamboo-framed bed beckons you to relax and immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the surroundings. Decorated in a deep bordeaux color reminiscent of monk’s robes, the room exudes a zen-like atmosphere. The focal point above the bed is the Kala chakra mandala, accompanied by a small prayer altar featuring a Buddha, emanating a feeling of reverence and tranquility. The private bathroom, located downstairs, is a sight to behold. Beautifully decorated with a teak wood vanity supporting a marble sink, it features a skylight that fills the space with natural light. A captivating mural painting of a mermaid by a renowned Maui artist graces the walls, adding to the overall charm of the room. During your stay, you’ll have full access to all of Opua House’s amenities. This includes a large kitchen, a cozy living room with ample lounging areas, spacious outdoor tables and seating, and a delightful sunroom that provides a feeling of being one with nature while staying protected. Whether you’re seeking a serene getaway or a productive work-from-paradise experience, our Indian Room at Opua House promises pure natural bliss and a truly unforgettable stay. ABOUT OUR PROPERTY: All of our buildings are ecologically built and adorned with spiritual art and hand-crafted masterpieces from Pacific and Asian countries. We are surrounded by a lush jungle, ponds, flower gardens, fruit trees, and an easily accessible waterfall that flows into natural pools for swimming, from which you can gaze upon the breath-taking view of the valley. Our land is a wonderful place to wander and explore: you can take a short walk past our organic garden, agroforestry garden, chickens, countless species of flowers and plants, and enter our temples, where you can rest, relax and meditate. For the adventurer, our ocean trail is a moderately challenging cliff trail and that takes about a half-hour to get down to the ocean. You will enjoy the wild beauty and the untouched nature of this piece of rural Maui, which is occasionally visited by dolphins and turtles. However, be sure to prepare with a good pair of hiking shoes, some snacks, a water bottle, and feel your feet—the trail can be very slippery after heavy rain. In the wintertime, whales can be spotted breaching from the viewpoints on this trail — even from your bed as well. As we live off the grid in a sustainable and organic jungle, some friendly and harmless critters are a part of our life. Occasionally small geckos are seen in the house and we remind guests of the importance of sealing up and putting away any uneaten food. If food is left out, ants will take it as an opportunity to make your leftovers a great feast. Also, Maui's tropical climate is conducive to moist air and mold. We are diligent in our cleanliness and strive to keep our spaces clean and insect free, but as previously mentioned we take good care of our land and live harmoniously in nature. We cater with 100% success to all our guests who want to experience nature and take time out from their busy lives to relax. Exclusive Yoga classes, only for Maui Eco Retreat guests, are offered Monday through Friday mornings. You will find our guest booklet with other offerings which invites you to explore more about what the North Shore of the island has to offer. If you thinking of eloping while staying with us or would like to have a micro wedding, Kutira is a licensed wedding officiant by the State of Hawaii and would love to support you in this special event. Kutira has been an officiant for over 30 years and her ceremonies are infused with the Hawaiian spirit. She and her husband create a union celebration according to your personal spiritual beliefs. At Maui Eco Retreat You'll Enjoy: - Being directly next to the ocean - Beautiful hiking trails - Waterfall lagoons - Romantic setting - Only 15 minutes from town - Sunrise views - Yoga and meditation classes ABOUT OUR LOCATION: We are situated on the North Shore of Maui, where you can experience the most exquisite sunrise over the ocean!
