Located on a bluff overlooking the ocean, with spectacular views also of the North Shore mountains ,our tropically fully furnished condo is on the 2nd (top) level of Alii Kai 1. All water activities, golfing, hiking, are within short distance. The Alii Kai 1 development, where the condo is located is composed of only 59 individually owned units, included in 7 buildings on the property. In the winter months, you can watch the whale migrations right from the lanai, or large dinette window. They never disappoint! Our building, building 2, has only 8 units. We are situated at the very end of the road, literally across from the cliff's edge, and there is no through traffic. There's lots of parking right in front of the building. There is a Gas BBQ right in front of our unit, and the newly re-done pool (May 2015) , is a short ocean view walk away. Beach towels, chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, cooler, are all provided. The guest bathroom has a bath tub and shower, and the master bath has a shower. The unit is 1100 square feet, and the kitchen is fully furnished, as well as having a new washer and dryer. The guest bedroom bed can convert from twin to king size upon request. There is a flat screen TV in living room and master bedroom. WiFi is available. Free tennis is available at the Princeville (Makai) tennis courts. There is no elevator ( 16 steps----13, a landing, then 3 more). No smoking is allowed. There is no AC, tho with the trade winds, we are very blessed with wonderful breezes. There are ceiling fans in both bedrooms and kitchen and living room, as well as extra portable fans. We would welcome you to make yourself at home in our Hawaiian home, and know you will especially enjoy the view and privacy from the lanai, which looks out to a stunning back yard of ocean, mountain and breath taking sunset sights. We are available to be reached 24 hours a day, and include our cell and home phone information to all our guests There is a manager available to be contacted, but there is no check in process with him , or any other person. Alii Kai, at Princeville is in an amazing spot. Golfing, hiking trails, kayaking, swim, surf and snorkel activities abound. From the lanai you can whale watch and see perfect sunsets Walk the property for beautiful ocean views from our cliffs, and grassy areas w Adirondack chairs to just relax and watch the ocean hypnotize you. World famous beaches are 1 mile away (Hideaways- tough parking and steep climb- not for children)), or a 5-10 minute drive to Hanalei or reef protected Anini, so safe for children., as well as the snorkeling mecca of Tunnels Beach, about 20 minutes away. Horse back riding, boat tours of the famous Napali Cliffs, as seen in the opening scenes of the first Jurassic Park movie, are all available. Princeville has its own lovely shopping center, with tropical stores, as well as a Food Land grocery store . Hanalei town is a short ride down the hill and is filled with lots of little shops, art studios and restaurants. You'd never have to leave the North Shore for sights or entertainment if you preferred not to do so. Right outside the door of the condo is the now famous path to the turtle caves- a bit of a step hike (tho not for young people it seems--well younger than i) with the reward of seeing these beautiful creatures. The turtles are protected-- many rescues over the years, so please climb only on dry, calm ocean days. The walking paths are busy every day with visitors just soaking in the views while getting their steps. You will need to rent a car at the Lihue Airport. It's about a 45 minute drive to the North Shore -- depending on traffic-- only one road around the island. But it's a beautiful ride . When you arrive at Edward, Rd. you first pass Alii Kai 2---- Just keep going- its a dead end road--- you will soon see sign on your right saying Alii Kai 1 Continue on , past palm island , and building 2 will come up on your left. When you arrive, try to park close to the center walkway, esp. w your suitcases. All spaces say reserved, but they are for owners and guests, and you may use any space. Walk up that sidewalk, thru little lobby, and unit 203 is on your left The code is 4-5-3-2 Roman Numerals Using two hands, turn that top code handle and the lower one simultaneously, , on the door, and you are in. If it is dark, there is a light switch on your left as you enter. TAXES The state of Hawaii, and Kauai Island itself, have 3 different tax assessments that must be added to your booking fee :( For a total of 17.25%, there is a Kauai excise tax of 4%; A Transient tax of 10.25% and a Kauai County Transient tax of 3%
