Across the street is spectacular Kahekili Beach Park. Make it YOUR beach since its all day free parking, a local hangout with no resort interference, and there's miles of sand. It's a perfect location for snorkeling the rich reefs. There's also a sandy shoreline for boogie boarding, wading and swimming. The popular beach boardwalk provides walking distance to shopping and dining at Whalers Village or in the famous Ka'anapali resorts. We provide beach chairs , toys, coolers, boogie boards, snorkel gear, beach towels and a wagon to haul it in! Just bring your swimsuit! Two comfy bedrooms have a king bed, a queen bed and lots of closet and drawer space. A side room off the living area has a queen size tempurpedic sofa bed for an additional sleeping option. Room darkening curtains make it super cozy and quiet inside when you need a cool break. All new double pane windows and lanai doors open up to bright tropical garden views of lush mature landscaping. Your home base to explore the beautiful island of Maui is right here. We want to make sure to inform you of an important consideration in regards to walking to the beach. Our cottage community sits nestled on a hillside across a busy street from a public beach. The public beach offers free parking. We recommend taking your car and crossing the street to the parking lot for the park with any children and heavy gear. It is certainly walkable, so you can tote your gear in our provided wagon. Sometimes cars drive very fast and at times it can create some road noise. The beach is less than 10 minutes walk across the street but you can walk even further along the ocean front walking trail and boardwalk. Restaurants, shopping and resorts are all within walking distance. A short drive away is Lahaina with Front Street where you will find more dining, shopping and history. Times Market is a short drive away for quick market shopping and food trucks. Airport car rental is modernized at the airport in a brand new car rental facility. We recommend a car rental if you can, so as to explore the variety of attractions Maui has to offer. There are some public transportation bus routes available and hotel shuttle busses. The board walk stretching along Ka'anapli resorts is several miles long, you can walk to dining shopping, water boards and snorkel rentals. We have made our spacious lanai comfortable with multiple seating areas, pull down shades, fountains and rocking chairs, but there may be some traffic noise while outside on the lanai. Inside the cottage it is super quiet. There is a beach across the street but it is a busy street. It is easy to walk to the beach but it's also easy to drive and park for free with all your gear. We find our cottage very peaceful and relaxing, even though it is a popular community for visitors and highly sought after for its location and Hawaiiana feel. Free parking is in a general parking lot and you walk on a path to your cottage, the path goes up a slight incline so it may be difficult for mobility challenged guests, but there are no stairs. We are 99% mosquito free, but we keep screens closed to keep unwanted tropical guests out of the house. This is a tropical island and we have regularly maintained pest control, however some lizards, geckos and other insects are normal. Geckos are considered good luck and help eat unwelcome insects, please don't kill them. We live in this cottage part of the year with our special needs adult son who loves to sew. You may see sewing supplies in the spare closets, but you have ample storage in the two bedrooms. Please use reef safe sunscreen when in the ocean!
