Quinta do Anjo is a luxurious farmhouse , with a spectacular 12 * 6 metre infinity pool , set in 7 hectares of farmland overlooking the Algarve countryside set amidst centenary olive trees, carob and orange groves. This spacious farmhouse is very well equipped, with a modern open plan living area, four spacious bedrooms and bathrooms for everyone. Accommodating 8, both the outside space and the large downstairs living area have been designed so that there are quiet corners for everyone. There are few places in the Iberian Peninsula where you can be on a glorious beach for lunch and then relax in the pool before the sun sets in a rural paradise after only a short drive. Quinta do Anjo breathes the simplest rural living yet with the luxury of modern comfort. Before you arrive at Quinta do Anjo you will pass the 'goatherds' house where Constantina, his wife, can provide fresh goat's cheese and milk. You will see the farmhouse to the left of the driveway sitting comfortably on what appear to be a sea of trees. On opening the front door, you will be greeted with a large, air conditioned, open plan living area. This space includes a dining area, a living area, several relaxing day beds and a sofa that can seat well in excess of 8, set back from this is a large kitchen. There is broadband Internet, a music system and CD's, TV, a selection of DVD's and a games chest. The large dining table, seating eight, is just off the open planned kitchen, where everyone can enjoy being together in style and simplicity. The designer Kitchen is a cooks delight, with a fabulous 6-hob stove, 2 dishwashers and 2 fridges (all good quality Smeg appliances). This is a perfect space for large family events and caters for all ages. Also on the ground floor is a guest cloakroom. The downstairs master bedroom is situated at the far end of the living area and has an en-suite bathroom, ample cupboard space and a large desk and day bed. The bathroom has a contemporary bath and separate walk in shower. The master bedroom also has its own private access to the outside terrace with views towards the pool. This is an excellent room for the elderly who may not want to use stairs. Climbing the curved staircase, you will find yourself on the landing and 2 further twin bedrooms, which share a separate shower room. Both rooms have a working desk, bedside tables and cupboard space. One looks north over the hills and catches the evening sun, the other south over the pool and the surrounding valley. A laundry room with dryer and washing machine is also located on the landing. The upstairs master bedroom is off the landing and faces west, and enjoys wonderful sunsets. It also has direct and private access to a very large terrace. Double aspect windows and double doors lead out onto the terrace, which also has a shaded double day bed and stairs that lead down to the garden. The bathroom has 2 hand basins, a contemporary bath and walk in shower. In a separate walk in alcove are also located 2 cupboards. This upstairs master bedroom is very large and private from the rest of the house. All bedrooms have stunning views over the surrounding countryside , Air Conditioning and underfloor heating. Outside, Quinta do Anjo caters for all ages and tastes and there is space for everyone. There are 3 main terraces downstairs .The large front terrace is covered in cane shading and offers welcome respite from the sun. It opens out from the main living area and can also be accessed from the downstairs master bedroom. There is a King sized daybed (which is excellent for reading a book or a quiet siesta in the afternoon) and an area that can be used as an external eating area and is wonderful for a lazy family lunch. It has views south and is bathed in moonlight during the summer. The property provides 2 teak tables with chairs for outside meals, there are also separate tables for the junior members of the party. There is also a more protected terrace, part of the outside porch and with traditional cane insulation , which welcomes you before you approach the front door. This terrace has wonderful views down towards the valley and receives less sunlight and is ideal for breakfast, or can even be used as the junior dining room. It can seat 8 comfortably with deep cushions on the purpose made “ sofa “ supplemented by teak chairs. There is also a 'sun' terrace, at the front of the house, which catches all the last rays of the evening sun. The upstairs terrace from the master bedroom has a similar perspective. There is a further stone terrace with shade in the garden which has wonderful views towards the pool and down into the valley below. It is an excellent spot for a cold beer in the evening as the sun slips below the hills behind you. The pool is situated below the house, backed by a wall over 100 years old and which was part of the original property. The pool has a terrace with 8 high quality pool lounge chairs . It also has an ample area of cane shading , perfect for a book or a game of cards. The pool is set in absolute privacy with views over the surrounding country. The bee-eaters often dive down in the early afternoon for the water and the partridge scavenge around the edges at dawn. There are a further 8 garden chairs dotted around the terraces for reading ,a family get together before supper or an evening drink as the sun sets. Next to the house the pigsty has been converted into a Barbeque area, with built in sink, working area and electricity. This is a wonderful spot for a glass of cool Vinho Verde whilst the charcoal embers cook your fish. We are very concerned over fires in the summer so request that the utmost care is taken when using the Barbeque (charcoal only). Utensils and grills are provided. The interior of the house is decorated in an eclectic manner and style. The predominant tones are white fabric and wooden furniture, with many antiques from the Swat Valley and Moroccan lamps . Books are available and there are plenty of DVD's (all ages) and music. Quinta do Anjo is magical at dusk. Kitchenware is generally of simple design yet of excellent quality. Linen and pool towels are provided. All bed linen is good quality cotton. Water is supplied by our own borehole, and is very pure. It is a constant 18 degrees centigrade all year round. Despite the fact that we are on top of an aquifer we would request that great care is taken over the use of water. We treat Quinta do Anjo as our private haven and would invite you to enjoy it in a similar fashion. We have an excellent support team at the property. Cleaning is provided once a week and the gardeners or pool maintenance team are generally around about once a week. The following is an approximate guide to the size of the house: Main downstairs living area 90 metres sq Kitchen 17 metres sq Downstairs Master Bedroom 22 metres sq Upstairs Master Bedroom 25 metres sq Upstairs Twin Bedrooms 17 metres sq (each) Main Terrace 50 metres sq Pool Terrace 65 metres sq Pool 72 metres sq Bought as a ruin over 15 years ago Quinta do Anjo was rebuilt following the typical architecture and design of the region. The floors are made of local artisan red brick tiles; the walls are white with details of Algarve blue bordering the windows and doors. Some of the ceilings are also insulated with cane, typical of the region. Wood has been used where possible to retain the rural feel of the house. However the interior is also designed for a large party and with a practical perspective. Modern appliances are used where appropriate. In keeping with the rustic atmosphere surrounding the house is a very basic “garden” which we have tried to keep as environmentally friendly as possible. Fed by a natural aquifer lying 150 metres below ground all the vegetation is autochthonous. Rosemary, lavender and other herbs are located in clusters and add to the character of the terraces. All the other trees occur naturally and the carobs in particular are still of agricultural use, and are harvested in late August. There are a few near the house. Quinta do Anjo is registered with the local County Council as an Alojamento Local (13740/ AL). It therefore has all the approved safety features for the license. The Property is also covered by Insurance.
