Walking or kayaking south along the beach will take you past a once-working windmill, on Windmill Beach, and you may see bald eagles fishing in the lake. Nearby towns host summer festivals and Heritage Day celebrations. Within a short drive, there are state parks, outstanding restaurants, and an orchard that offers apple picking in the fall. A little further away is the exclusive American Club Resort, the world-renowned golf courses in nearby Kohler, Road America (auto racing) in Elkhart Lake, and fishing boat charters from Port Washington and Sheboygan.
