Enjoy your stay in Cody, Wyoming, from the convenience of our historic converted carriage house! We are located just steps away from downtown, easily walkable to shopping, restaurants, and nightlife. The enclosed backyard is perfect for morning coffee, evening drinks, and relaxing dinners. Well-behaved dogs are welcome. The carriage house is more than 100 years old. It was built at the turn of the twentieth century and is located on the original map for the city of Cody. It was originally a horse stable, later converted to a one-bedroom residence. The carriage house features a living room with an office desk and television, a fully-stocked kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom overlooking the backyard. The house sleeps 4 people, with a double bed in the bedroom and a double-sized pull-out couch in the living room. An optional air mattress can be added to the living room, making room for a maximum of 5. In the backyard, you will find a sitting area. Fresh mint and six-foot-high hollyhock flowers are abundant in July and August. Vehicles are secure in the off-street driveway next to the house. Enjoy your home away from home with a full-sized oven and range, refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, tea kettle, glassware, silverware, cookware, soap, and linens. The kitchen is stocked with a full selection of spices to help you cook simple to elaborate meals. Coffee beans, a coffee grinder, and assorted teas will help you get going in the morning. Enjoy free high-speed Wi-Fi to log into your laptops and mobile devices. Watch your favorite television shows on the Smart TV when you log into your streaming services on the Roku or choose from a selection of movies to watch on the DVD player. You are welcome to bring your dog and let them out in the fenced-in backyard as long as you pick up after them. Your hosts have a six-year old energetic blue heeler who will primarily be in the front yard, but will attempt to escape to meet the guests, especially if they bring a dog. In the backyard you will find a sitting area. Fresh mint and six-foot-high hollyhock flowers are abundant in July and August (if you help yourself to the mint, make sure you cut it with scissors instead of pulling it from the ground). Guests and their dogs are welcome to use the backyard, which is a shared space with the owners (us) and their dog in the front house. When present, plastic bags by the back door are for dog duty. The yard is a shared space that may be occupied by other guests, the owners, their dogs, and children. Please clean up after your dogs every time they go outside! If you have kids (or even if you don’t), feel free to turn on the sprinkler to cool off after a long day. Please keep the gate closed at all times so that your dogs and ours don’t escape. Take a relaxing five-minute evening hike up the hill behind the cottage via the 10-acre Canal Park, where you can enjoy Shakespeare in the Park and sit on a bench watching the best sunsets in Cody. Across the parking lot is the impressive Cody branch of the Park County Library and the Paul Stock Aquatic and Recreation Center, which features day passes to access their water slides and pool, hot tub, basketball court, exercise equipment and free weight room, walking track, racquetball courts, and wet steam room. Attractions abound in the near vicinity. Within two blocks you will find Cody’s best in western hospitality: - the Trailhead is located just a few steps away from the carriage house at 1326 Beck Ave. They serve the best pizza and rotating specials in Cody! Check out their Happy Hour from Tuesday through Sunday 3:00-5:00 p.m. Live music and events are listed on their website. Note: they are closed on Mondays and closed for dinner on Sundays. - Proprietress Market + Bar (formerly Juniper), located at 1128 12th Street, is our favorite retail wine, liquor shop, and daytime drinks. They feature 100 whiskeys, a world-class wine and beer selection, and a gorgeous garden patio. They typically close at 6 p.m., and they are also closed on Mondays. - the Silver Dollar Bar & Grill (1313 Sheridan Ave) is where many of the Cody locals go. You are likely to meet professional rodeo athletes, cowboys, international travelers, and friends. They offer live entertainment and dancing, as well as a large outdoor patio. Their burgers are the best in town! Minors can sit and eat on the patio until 8 p.m. - the historic Irma Hotel (1192 Sheridan Ave) was built by Buffalo Bill Cody in 1902 and is the setting for the nightly Cody Gunfighter show, every evening except Sundays at 6:00 p.m. Visiting their dining room is a must! You will see the cherrywood back bar in the restaurant given to Buffalo Bill by Queen Victoria of England, and hauled in pieces by stagecoach. - Annie’s Old Fashioned Soda Saloon is located across the street from the Irma Hotel at 1202 Sheridan Ave. They serve over 30 flavors of soda and 14 flavors of ice cream plus have an amazing menu of sandwiches, soups, and breakfast items. Other Must-Sees in Cody include the Buffalo Bill Center of the West (a 3-minute drive away) and the Cody Nite Rodeo (a 7-minute drive), which operates every day in the summer from June 1 – August 31 at 8:00 pm. And of course, the East Gate of Yellowstone National Park is just an hour away. Your hosts are very knowledgeable about Cody and the surrounding area. They are happy to provide suggestions for dining, hiking, camping, and other outdoor activities. Guests can access the entire house and the backyard. We are almost always available for questions via text message, phone, or email. We do travel a lot (sometimes to remote places without cell phone reception), in which case we partner with a local co-host who can help answer last minute questions. The carriage house is located in the heart of downtown Cody, in a peaceful quiet neighborhood. Attractions and restaurants are almost all walkable from our back door! Guests can park in off street parking and walk to most area attractions. Taxis and uber are available. Cody can be chilly in the winter! The bedroom stays toasty warm with baseboard heat. A space heater and wall heater in the living room regulates temperatures in the rest of the house, but the hallway stays pretty cold. The temperatures in Cody can fluctuate quite a bit during the summer, but it will get hot. The window unit air conditioner in the bedroom keeps the room cool. The rest of the house does not have air conditioning, but numerous fans are set up to help with air circulation.
