Located in the heart of the Pikes Peak region - a lot to see and do here. Completely renovated 2019-2020. Stay in modern comfort! Two acres of land. National Forest access. 1500 square feet of living area. One level - no stairs. Great deck with a beautiful view. Perfect for families - young kids or multi-generations. Or, it's a great getaway for couples. Summertime= warm days and cool nights. Hang out on the deck after a day of adventure! Or stay in and be cozy next to the fire :-) At this place you can venture out for a day to explore the many attractions in the area then stay in comfort with beautiful views and wildlife! Located at approximately 8300 feet elevation. From here, you can get to the big city (Colorado Springs) easily and quickly - 40 minutes. Florissant (3 min), Divide (12 min), Woodland Park (20 min) and Manitou Springs (35 min) are even closer. If you want to rough it, you can get way back to a very remote Wilderness Area (Lost Creek) in about 20 minutes or Gold Medal fishing (Eleven Mile Canyon) in 10 minutes. Eleven Mile Reservoir is great for shore fishing or boating. This area is PACKED with things to do. Do your research! Start with a search like "what to do in the Pikes Peak region" and you'll get an idea of what there is around here. If you head West from the cabin, you can get to the resort towns like Breckenridge in an hour and a half of beautiful driving through South Park and over Wilkerson and Hoosier Passes. Gambling in Cripple Creek is close (25 min) as well and fun to visit or do a driving loop through Victor just to see the history around the gold mining there. We'll help you plan a great itinerary if you need advice :-) Skiing is within a very easy hour and a half at Monarch Mountain. Breckenridge and other Summit County resorts are similar distances, but it can be a more challenging drive over Hoosier pass if the weather is bad. Easy in the summer, but check conditions in the winter. Monarch is great for families and usually has excellent conditions without the $$. As far as the property goes, kids (6-12 or so) are able safely explore while their parents keep an eye on them. Older kids can safely explore on their own. Parents can sit on the deck with a beverage, jamming to their favorite songs on the Bluetooth speaker while the kids roam around and discover things they'll never see in suburbia or the city. Off-property but within EASY walking distance, there is a small pond about 500 yards down the hill where kids can fish and explore as well. The cabin itself is on a single level so there are no stairs in the living area. One step up to get into the house. We have cool summer nights (8300'), so no AC is needed, just open up the house and enjoy the fresh mountain air. Bring Grandma and Grandpa as its an easy place to get around and a great place for multi-generational bonding :-) !! The wi-fi/internet works great and we have TVs in both bedrooms and the main room, with Dish satellite TV. Samsung Bluetooth speaker for move-able tunes. Wood burning stove/fireplace for that cabin feeling. Renovated in 2018-2019 with all new everything. At night, you can see a million stars up here :-) Everything listed. We have 2 small unheated storage room/shop-rooms which will be locked up. We (all 5 of us in the family) are passionate about this area and want to share it with others. We are available to help with any questions! If you want an experienced backpacking guide we can help with that. Its within an hour of Colorado Springs Airport, Air Force Academy, etc. Or, if you go the other direction, you can get to Buena Vista or Breckenridge in about an hour. Gold medal fishing, mountain biking, hiking, etc. , are all within minutes. Pikes peak highway is 25 minutes. There is so much to do, no way to list it all here. You need a vehicle to get around. 4WD in the winter is highly recommended. If you want to explore the forest via Forest Service Road 878 4WD is highly recommended. Be vigilant and careful during fire season! Check the Teller county web site for any burn restrictions in place!
