This lovely hale li'i (tiny house in Hawaiian) is a perfect private little get away place! The place is fully furnished and has a kitchenette complete with a single burner induction cooktop, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, blender and toaster. There is no oven but the large lanai (veranda) is fully equipped for barbecueing and lounging around! The coup de grâce is the bathroom shower which is very spacious with a skylight and features a custom tile mosaic mural created by the host! Hale e Komo Mai is located in a residential neighborhood yet visitors find that once at the housie it feels like a private secret little gem way off away and secluded. Please be aware that the location is not far as the crow flies from the main road and road noise can be heard while outside. Visitors can leave phones and devices in the car or bring them in to access the world as the housie has it’s own WIFI and multiple USB outlets throughout! Hale e Komo Mai is well situated 2 miles from the center of historic Kamuela which is nestled in Parker Ranch yet boasts several of the world’s premier telescopes. Waimea (Kamuela) is also located about midway between Kona and Hilo. We are central to both and Hawi which is an artsy and cute little town at the north end of the island. Kamuela airport (MUE) is our airport and can be flown into from Honolulu, Kahului, and Moloka’i on Mokulele Airlines. It’s a very small airport that accommodates the small 9 passenger inter island planes! It’s a great way to get a first look at the island! Guests will need a rental car to get the most out of their stay. Check online at Turo for rental cars if you plan to arrive at MUE! You can find a lot of options through that site and it’s like Airbnb for car rentals! Hale e Komo Mai is about 2 miles from the center of town and about 14 miles from the nearest coastline/beach. Other airport options are the two international airports; KOA (Kona) and ITO (Hilo) and the big car companies are available at both. Guests can keep to themselves and are welcome to "our side” of the garden! The owners like gardening and have many interesting trees as well as a nice lawn on which it is possible to sit out in the sun! Guests will have space and privacy and can keep to themselves while the host couple live on property but are always available for visiting and help. We love having guests and my husband was a tour guide for Hawaii Forest & Trail so we always have ideas for things to do and see. The hosts are always reachable via phone, message or text. Our place is in an old settled local quiet neighborhood that is 2 miles from the center of Waimea on the Big Island of Hawaii. Waimea (also known as Kamuela) is a historic town of about 10,000 people and was established amidst the famous Parker Ranch. Guests will need a rental car because there is no public transportation. PLEASE NOTE: Guests are required to follow the Pre-Travel Testing Program as described on the Hawaii Tourism Authority’s website. https://www.hawaiitourismauthority.org/covid-19-updates/ Guests will need a rental car as the island is big and public transport is very limited.
