Family-friendly, close to downtown
Historic craftsman home walking distance from downtown, Buffalo Bill Center of the West, and Sierra Trading Post. Situated on a corner lot, this home is quiet and comfortable. Perfect for a family vacation. Ice climbers, this house is equidistant between the North and South Forks of the Shoshone River, entryways to many of the area's frozen waterfalls, an ideal base for ice climbing adventures. This house is licensed for six guests. City of Cody registration # STR-C-27-R2–6-S. This 1,200 square foot house is located on one of the quietest streets near downtown. During the Independence Day celebration, parade entrants prep their horses and floats on this street (it's a little noisier those 2 days). You are two blocks from the City Park which has many summer activities, including live concerts in the summer, mini golf, playground, and picnic tables. Tennis courts, jogging track, and football field are across the street on the high school campus and may be accessed by the general public. If you have a medical emergency you are only two blocks from West Park Hospital. You will have access to the entire living area of the house. The basement is excluded as it is not a living area. We are available for suggestions on local sights to see, general troubleshooting, or any other questions. Walking distance to the summertime events in Cody. Jogging track, tennis courts, and small frisbee golf course are available to the general public across at the high school. The neighborhood is quiet in the summer with plenty of parking available. During the summer months there is a western shootout play enacted nightly downtown in the street by the historic Irma Hotel. It is open to the public and within easy walking distance from the house. Cody currently has Taxi transport. There is a bus that runs nightly to the Cody Nite rodeo. It makes a stop about three blocks away from our house at a local campground. This home is 1 block from the Powwow grounds for the Native American Powwow held every June. The east entrance gate of Yellowstone National Park is about 52 miles from our front door. Old Faithful on the southwest side of Yellowstone is about 60 miles from the east entrance. Mammoth hot springs on the northwest side of the park is about 70 miles from the east entrance. There is also a route from Cody to the northeast entrance of the park. If you decide to stay with us we'll give you suggestions for different day trip routes from Cody to Yellowstone that will take you through the beautiful mountain roads in the area and give you the opportunity to see bears, mountain goats, big horn sheep, elk, moose and sometimes even wolves. For guests who are staying several days, we suggest a day trip to Kirwin, a gold-mining ghost town nestled high in the mountains. There is no entrance fee. Local residents preserve the buildings and welcome tourists. It is a very remote location so plan accordingly (food, water, fuel) and we strongly suggest that you drive a 4-wheel drive vehicle.
