The sun is on most days and the infinity pool beckons one to jump in. Overlooking the garden, beach and the ocean horizon - your private pool is sure to be a memorable part of your stay. The air conditioned bedrooms feature comfortable queen sized beds, ceiling fans as well mosquitos nets and large screened windows. Each bedroom features an ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower. Amenities include high quality natural shampoo and body wash, linens and towels. Breakfast can be ordered from our housekeeping staff and served directly in your villa at your desired time. Pura Maia has an integrated kitchen for those who would like to self-cater. All necessary cookware and tableware are available to prepare easy meals. The fridge is stocked with beer, wine and a selection of soft drinks. We offer complimentary bottled water, specialty coffee and tea. A short walk down the stairs is your secluded beach and grassy lawn and relax with a cool drink on a sun lounger. Our beach is quiet, pristine and uncrowded. The calm waters in the protected bay offer a great place for kids to swim and play; the healthy coral reef is a snorkeling must do. The beach bar serves serves up a selection of mixed drinks, beer, wine, soft drinks, milk shakes and fresh seasonal fruit juices. A lunch menu is available from our Trattoria; your meal may be enjoyed on the beach or in your villa. (Service may be limited during COVID-19 pandemic) The beach bar offers high quality snorkeling gear, Stand Up Paddle Boards and Sea Kayaks for hire - explore the half-moon bays, beaches and mountain vistas just outside of the bay. Pura Maia is set among a group of five private villas that share a beautiful secluded beach and a common beach front grass lawn. Privacy is paramount for our experience and we ask our guests to be discreet and respectful. The sun loungers on the lawn and the bale are for our guests' use. The beach bar serves beer, wine, mixed drinks, milkshakes and fruit juices. All of our guests are welcome to enjoy their time by the beach bar. As the host and villa manager I am available and on-site a good part of the day. I can answer all of your questions, help you with making reservations at local restaurants, organizing day trips, renting scooters, fishing boats, etc. Wulan is my assistant and she's also available to help with anything you may need. Our housekeeping staff will keep everything clean and tidy. If you require more privacy or wish not to be disturbed during your stay - please let them know. For clarity, Amed is the name of a village at the beginning of the coastal road the weaves in and out of a series of fishing villages and bays. This general area is collectively known as 'Amed'. The Amed area has great scuba diving and snorkeling sites, sandy and rocky beaches, great views of Mt. Agung and and Lombok and is still a less explored area of Bali. Villa Pura Maia is located in the southern part of the Amed area very close to the Japanese Wreck, (great snorkeling and diving). Many of our guests rent our Stand Up Paddle Boards and go for paddle, others snorkel on the wonderful house reef and gently drift down to the Japanese Wreck. We offer a very secluded beach experience, in a private villa with no crowds or people trying to you sun glasses and sarongs. Dining in / Dining Out: Our own Trattoria offers authentic Italian meals and is located 2 minutes from the villa. There are handful of restaurants within a 5 - 15 minute walk. We can arrange complimentary transfers to local restaurants for lunch and dinner. Also, we can arrange fantastic in-villa Balinese dinners catered at very reasonable prices. The area is fairly laid back and quiet, so don't expect clubs, bars or a thriving night life in this part of Bali. This is a traditional area of Bali that has growing tourism, but maintains a distinct calmness and old village charm. That said, there are couple of bars that do offer live music and some nightlife - ask our staff for details. In the mornings you will see an armada for local fishing boats returning from the morning catch - this happens around 7:00 AM - if fishing is good they'll head out again in the afternoon. Be on the look out for dolphins and turtles - we have many sightings off our beach! Getting Here and Away: Most of our guests arrive by a private car transfer. We can easily organize a transfer from the airport or any point in Bali. The costs are reasonable and depend on the location and vehicle type. Expect your transfer to take around 3 hours from most points in Bali. More and more guests are renting cars and self-driving. This is a great way to experience the island and to explore independently. We do have a parking area and you are welcome to park during your stay. Fast boat service between Amed and the Gilis is easy and convenient. The boat companies offer free transfers in the Amed area for departing and arriving passengers. You can buy tickets on-line or at the local ticket office. Check out Freebird Express, Patcha and Kudah Hitam. To move around locally, you might consider hiring a scooter. Many tourists enjoy the freedom of moving around and exploring the area. We partner with a reliable scooter rental service. We'll easily organize this for you. What to expect... 1. Villa Pura Maia is not a hotel. The villa is set within a group of discreet private villas separated by lush trees, bushes and walls. We offer a vacation rental experience on a secluded beach in a beautiful space. We do not have 24 hour room service, butler or concierge services. We DO have daily housekeeping, security night watch, a delicious breakfast service, and a fantastic housekeeping and gardening crew that will go out of their way to help you. Your fridge will be stocked with beer, wine and soft drinks at fair prices. 2. Our property has stairs. If you cannot handle stairs, then this is not the right place for you. Be aware that many villas, resorts and hotels in Bali have stairs. 3. We have fiber optic internet from our ISP with a seamless WiFi connection throughout the property. From time to time service may be slow or interrupted. Please understand we are in a remote part of world and in a remote part of Bali. You will receive your password upon check-in. 4. We do NOT have cellular / mobile phone signal at the property at this time. We recommend all guests use any popular internet communication app to make calls. We do have a land line at our Beach Bar and at the Reception for local calls. 5. We have a Smart TV in the villa. You can get on-line, surf, watch Youtube, etc. We have DVD players in the reception as well as large selection of DVDs. We also have mini-HDMI cable so you can plug your tablet, phone or laptop to the TV. Please see our manager if you would like to borrow the DVD or the mini-HDMI cable. 6. We serve breakfast between 7:30 AM - 10:30 AM. If possible, make your breakfast selection in the afternoon for the next day's breakfast. If you need an earlier breakfast - please let our staff know. Tipping / Gratuity: This is always a sensitive subject for our guests and I get this question a lot, so I will offer a suggestion. I would recommend leaving a tip if you are happy with the service you receive from the staff. There is no obligation to tip - you could tip if you are happy and want to appreciate the staff. A tip of 5% - would be well received. Our staff pool and share all tips. All work equally hard, some behind the scenes and are not that visible. They work as team and in true Balinese tradition share the kindness from our guests.
