We're on a quiet, tree-lined street, a lovely bike ride or walk from a pebble beach, with crystal clear water and stunning sunsets. Our house is the ideal base to explore the North Fork, where bucolic farmland abuts magnificent beaches. We're 5 minutes by car or 15 by bike to the charming seaside villages of Greenport and Orient. Our house is fully stocked, newly renovated and the spacious backyard borders 10 acres of lovely forest preserve. No large groups of unrelated adults. We recently bought and renovated our home with an eye towards style and comfort. There are two living areas--one with a working fireplace, leather sofa, and ultra high def television, and the other with a comfy sectional couch, perfect to lay down on and read a book. The back deck has a new Weber grill, a sofa and chairs, and it's usually pretty shady back there. We often wake up and see deer, rabbits, or wild turkeys roaming through the forest preserve that borders our backyard. The kitchen has lots of counter space and is stocked with all the tools a cook could want. It's unlikely you'll see anyone on the 15 minute walk, five minute bike ride or four minute drive to the beautiful Rocky Point beach, but you will hear lots of birds chirping. The beach itself is also remarkably quiet. At most, you might see two or three couples or families enjoying the sunshine. The water is usually calm, like a lake. The setting is magnificent. A 10 minute walk towards the main road brings you to the Fork and Anchor, a charming shop for sandwiches, salads and other amenities. Our neighborhood is close to everything great about the North Fork, but the house itself is private and very quiet. There are many great restaurants around us as well as ways to enjoy nature. We have written a guidebook to the area that guests receive when they book with us. The Hampton Jitney picks up and drops off right outside the East Marion post office, a half mile from our house. You can also take the LIRR to Greenport, and then take a Lyft from there. Having a car is very helpful to get the most out of the area, but not absolutely essential. Our home is a 15 minute bike ride from both Orient and Greenport villages.
