Hale Honu is my home and furnished with the world traveler in mind for a relaxing stay. If you are searching for quiet with few nearby neighbors and the sound of tropical palms blowing in the tradewinds, you have found your authentic Hawaiian retreat. 840 sf house with vaulted ceiling and mature landscaping. A captivating garden with some edibles and great south views toward the ocean mean you may have trouble leaving the lanai (porch). The property is a sanctuary for relaxation and rejuvenation with a 2 person soaking tub. The location is central to the Puna coast with easy access to seeing the 2017 lava flow and fissures, a nearby black sand beach, and local Hawaiian culture. Highway 137 is open up to and including Isaac Hale State Park with its warm ponds for soaking and the opened Highway 132 allows you to view the vast lava river from 2017. Hale Honu is located about 20 minutes by car from Pahoa with its excellent restaurants and services. I can guide you in the right direction for just about anything you are looking to do on your big island vacation and have maps for secret places. Book now and have an unforgettable, original Hawaii experience on the island that offers it all! *Kehena Beach, a stunning black sand beach (clothing optional). On the right day, you might have the opportunity to swim with the dolphins that frequent the coastline. 25 minute walk (1.5 miles) * Wednesday Night Market at Uncle Robert's: live music, dancing, food, crafts *Ancient Hawaiian cemeteries, and a piece of the Kings Trail constructed in the 1800s (within 3 miles) *Hawaii Volcanoes National Park (approx 50 miles). Many trails are open including Chain of Craters Road and hiking Kilauea Iki on the crate floor, plus Crater Rim trail. *Visit local markets for an abundant selection of tropical fruits and vegetables, as well as unique gift items. I will be off traveling the world while you are here but a local friend will be your contact. I am also generally available by text. Said to be one of the most beautiful coastal roads in all of Hawaii, Seaview sits in the middle of this 14 mile stretch of Highway 137, locally known as 'The Red Road'. This lush, coastal road is punctuated with stunning shoreline views and numerous fishing spots. A variety of folks live in Seaview Estates including a diversity of lifestyles--queer, retirees, transplants, artists, families and also some folks who are quite poor. The community association maintains three parks for your enjoyment and one includes a covered picnic area as well as volleyball court and tetherball. The seaview park is popular for its view, and Sunday music and drum jams. There are also yoga classes offered down the street by excellent teachers. Having a car is helpful as there is limited bus service. Cars can be rented from fellow residents of Seaview. Biking and walking is easy and recommended but no local bike rentals available. I have one hybrid bike and helmet available for use. Hale Honu (Green Sea Turtle House) inspires relaxation. Experience the getaway you have been craving. Feel at home and leave the busyness of city life behind. Enjoy watching the birds flit through the garden, the smell of tropical rain showers as well as the dark night sky with its singing coqui frog sounds from the wrap around lanai. This 840 sf house with loft and vaulted roof has cool slate floors throughout. Bedrooms are outfitted with comfortable higher end mattresses. High thread count organic linens and bathrobes are provided for your comfort. Reading lamps throughout the house and outdoor furniture and tables on the lanai. The kitchen has a full size refrigerator, stove/oven, pots, pans, toaster, coffee maker, blender, plates, glasses, bowls, cutlery, variety of glasses, coffee, tea, condiments and spices. Harvest fruit right from the extensive garden in season including pineapples, lilikoi (passionfruit), bananas, papayas, tomatoes, parsley and even coconuts if you are inclined. The king bed can be divided into 2 twin beds. There's wireless internet (sometimes drops), cell phone service depending on provider, washer/dryer, outdoor shower, art by renowned local “red road” artist Arthur Johnsen, snorkel gear, camping chairs, cooler, headlamps (for lava hikes/bikes), noodles for the warm ponds, umbrellas, guidebooks and other thoughtfully provided special touches.
