"Entre Sel et Mer" is a family beach cottage of days gone by. A place where time stood still, tucked away between the salt pans of Tamarin (sel) and the lagoon ( sea - mer), this completely renovated, rustic and charming 4 bedroom cottage, has open verandas, decks and an inviting pool on a white sandy beach. A perfect place to unwind, enjoy and reflect with family and friends. Admire the sunsets, dine under a starlite sky, enjoy drinks by the pool, and campfires on the beach. "Entre Sel et Mer" is one of the few authentic beach bungalows still standing in Mauritius. Built in 1940 and completely renovated in 2018, this Mauritian "campement" reflects the lifestyle of Mauritian families. The fully equipped kitchen is ideal to stir up fun tasty meals or you may opt to use the services of Brinda, who can prepare for you a tasty Mauritian meal. The cottage is equipped with all modern amenities such as washing machine, dishwasher, Nespresso machine, air-conditioning in all bedrooms, just to name a few. The interior is ravenale (from the Traveller Palm), wooden beams with lovely exposed thatched roof and french windows and doors to enjoy the ocean breezes. The décor is simple yet chic with original Mauritian and Caribbean artwork, beautiful teak furniture pieces and original paintings and photos of the salt pans. The bungalow boasts 3 living areas as well as a TV room. We have added an additional bedroom ensuite bungalow , making this home a 4 bedroom , 3 bathroom home, comfortable for up to 8 persons. The main bedroom is very spacious with a 4 poster king size bed and armoires , the second bedroom is an en suite with a queen size and the third bedroom has two single beds which can be converted into a large double bed as needed. The new fourth bedroom bungalow is detached from main house and has a kingsize with an ensuite bathroom and ext hot water shower. All bedrooms are air-conditionned, well ventilated (ceiling fans), lots of windows (light) and have a traditional roof, wooden beam and frame structure under the thatched roof - making it a cosy, unique and intimate space to relax and recharge. The Main cottage with its additonal bungalow and property is for your private use including the gardens and beach kiosk and pool and of course the beach, which is right on the property. The bungalow is available for you based on your arrival and departure times. We understand early morning arrivals and late departures and strive to make your stay as comfortable as we can. The only imperative we have is to keep 24 hrs between each guest to clean and prepare the bungalow for our next guests. So check in and check out is flexible if we have no bookings in the next 24 hrs. If we have a booking we need to maintain a 11 am check out and 2 pm check in. There is ample parking on the property, under the shaded trees. Living nearby, I am available for check ins and check outs and for all your needs. I would consider myself as hands on, but discreet. Entre Sel et Mer is centrally located in Tamarin in a residential neighbourhood and is: A stone’s throw away from Tamarin Bay, which has been rated 45th best wave in the world by Surfer mag. 15 min walk toTamarin Bay, also ideal for SUP rental, Kayaks, learn to surf schools 15 walk to the "swim with the dolphin " excursions 10 min walk to local grocery store 10 min drive to various shopping venues (Ruisseau Creole, London Way) 20 min drive to Paradie golfing at Le Paradis in Le Morne and 20 min for golfing at Tamarina golf and spa. Restaurants and local shops are within walking distance 20 min walk to health club, tennis courts, sports facilites Although there are local buses (the bus stop is 50 meters away), the ideal way to get around in Mauritius is either renting your own car or renting a car with a driver. You can also indulge in beach coastal walks and hiking trails up the mountain departing directly from the beach house Enjoy the beach, the outdoors and the cottage are the most important house rules. There are plenty of toys - beach tennis rackets, volleyball, frisbees, slack line, croquet, snorkelling gear and float noodles. There are single kayaks, double kayaks, SUP board for you to enjoy. There are books and board games, drawing pencils.... The beach itself provides a realm of entertainment - fishing off the rocks, building sand castles, beach combing, walking - it’s endless .... We feel a duration of 8 - 12 nights is ideal for a destination such as Mauritius as takes time to get over the jet lag and to settle into a tropical environment. Also the island of Mauritius is larger than one thinks and visiting different parts of the island, each requires almost full day trips. However, do be careful with fires as we have thatched roofs.
