All dietary needs can be accommodated. The Marigold is set within a very private oasis boasting its own swimming pool and large outdoor living space for lazing away the hours as a break from the activity of local beaches. It is an easy walk to the local beach and child friendly swimming area plus only a short tuk tuk ride from many great restaurants, beach bars, cafes and nightlife providing plenty of options for private relaxation or participation in the local 'party' scene. All bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms with both A/C and ceiling fans. Quality bed linen is supplied by a local Sri Lankan company. Towels for both the bathroom and pool are also provided. Guests are requested not to take pool towels to the beach. The common living spaces (indoors and outdoors) capture cross breezes and are cooled with a plentiful arrangement of ceiling fans. The fully equipped kitchen can cater to every need, however the staff will be sure to provide you with the support you need. Personal laundry is also available on site by the house staff. The Marigold provides Cable TV and free Wifi throughout your stay. Guests are encouraged to utilize the In Room safe for all valuables which provides security and peace of mind for the documents you don't want to 'lose' at the beach! Our amazing Manager will greet you on arrival and orient you to the house, facilities, local attractions/activities and the local area as well as introduce you to the staff. He will assist you throughout your stay and be available with friendly advice, guidance and support as needed. He can help with most requests from planning special events or day trips to arranging local tuk tuks to get you out and about. The staff will service the house and rooms daily at a time arranged around your daily activities. Our Manager is pleased to support you during your stay by providing a daily shopping service to meet your daily food and drink requirements - to take away the chore of visiting local supermarkets. The Marigold is situated in the pretty village of Mihiripenna. It is a popular village, set a short stroll back from the beach, providing visitors an insight into the simple lifestyle of Southern Provence Sri Lankans. The surrounding villages of Thalpe and Unawatuna offer a wide array of restaurants and bars to suit most budgets and tastes - from upmarket 5 star to local cafes providing 5 star food in casual settings. The heritage listed Galle Fort is only a short tuk tuk ride from the house where guests can wander the streets and lanes sampling a variety of cuisines, shop for souvenirs and world famous gems and visit many historic buildings. Galle International Cricket Ground is always on the schedule for hosting international games, and The Marigold is only approximately 15 to 20 minutes away by tuk tuk. Unawatuna Beach, with its variety of dining and nightlife opportunities is also very accessible by Tuk Tuk and is about 5 minutes away where guests can find many landmark and popular beach bars and cafés serving light meals and drinks. You can also find local artists where you are bound to find a painting that is a special memento of your holiday in Sri Lanka. Yoga retreats and spas are popular activities for guests to experience. The house is serviced by a small but very well stocked convenience store within walking distance where guests can access most personal and basic food items needed for your holiday. The Marigold is situated in the perfect location for guests to easily access such local activities as visiting a Tea plantation, protected Turtle Hatchery, Whale watching, Spice Garden, a round of Golf and a number of beautiful and ancient Temples - including the 200+ year old village Temple just a short walk away, where the Head Monk is always happy to welcome visitors. Experiencing a Wildlife Safari is possible during your stay with us and is only a short 2.5 hour drive to the amazing Udawalawa and Yalla National parks. Local Tuk Tuks are readily available and our Manager can arrange quickly and easily to meet your transport needs.
