Spacious room, Historic neighborhood near Old City
Roomy room, bright and quiet, very comfortable bed, writing desk, closet, privately controlled AC/heat, full use of kitchen and dining area, WiFi, third floor (42 steps with 4 landings). The location is very walkable, with trees, cafes, and excellent bus connections. Colorful and clutter free aesthetic. Great water pressure in shower. Designated space in fridge. Instant coffee, tea available. One can certainly use the kitchen, dining, living area which is all one open space. Cooking is fine. Baaka is one of Jerusalem's oldest neighborhoods. It has an interesting mix of 19th century stone residences , immigrant housing from the 50"s, modern designer homes, trees, pocket parks, playgrounds, & picturesque alleyways. Sidewalk cafes & specialty shops line the main street together with a pharmacy, grocery, & hardware store. The pearl of this area is a 2.5 km. boardwalk created along an Ottoman railroad track. At one end of the stroll is First Station, an outdoor entertainment center with public dancing, live music, restaurants, bikes to rent, and maybe a book fair or photo exhibit. At the other end is a Arab village. Between promenade the peoples of Jerusalem. A five minute walk will get you to many bus lines direct to downtown, Old City, Israel Museum and the open market (Mahaneh Yehuda), and even Bethlehem. Some people in this neighborhood don't have a car or don't need to use one on a daily basis because public transit is so good. There is unrestricted street parking. There is a ISh.100.- (or $30.) deposit required when I give you the key and I take a photo of guest's picture ID or passport.
