A quick 5 min drive to the beach (Makaha is the closest), where there is always endless parking. Makaha Valley is unlike any other Oahu experience. You won't find many tourists here. It is literally the "end of the road" when it comes to the island. If you're wanting to spend your time outside, this is the place for you. There is a beach fit for everyone. Pok'ai bay for those wanting calm waters, to Yokohama beach with Large shore breaks, and everything in between. The weather on this side is a constant WARM with much less rain than the rest of the island. Sea life is abundant here, and you will most likely catch a glimpse or two of sea turtles, seals, dolphins, whales, or manta rays. There is local cuisine, fast food, and supermarkets (non walkable) near by to cook at home. Many hikes within a short drive. This is a remote location. You will not have "easy" access to all the touristy experiences, but you will have beaches that are almost empty. If you're wanting to experience some of the options on the East side, it is still available with some driving and planning. Rent a car, and choose a few days to drive through the island, and the rest of the time soaking up the West side. (Nowhere on the island is more than 1.5 hours from here- and most are not that far.)
