Ideal for families, couples and friends, our beach house is set up for casual island living. Walk past 2 homes to reach the ocean then along the coast to Brennecke's Beach and Poipu Beach Park. This gives everyone the convenience of hitting the beach together or meet there without driving. We're fully equipped with beach chairs, coolers, drip coffee maker, coffee grinder, full sets of bath and beach towels, washer/dryer and lots more. Locally owned and managed. Hot water and electricity are provided by the abundant Hawaiian sunshine with automatic backup if needed. I designed our home to harness the cooling trade winds. The AC units are nice for times when the trade winds are still. The convenience and coolness of covered parking at your front door is especially welcome on those warm Hawaiian days. Families are welcome. We have a baby gate for the stairs, high-chair and a pak-n-play portable crib. Best of all there is no need to pile into a car and drive. Just walk around the corner to the first of a string of beaches. We even have a beach wagon. House setup: Bedroom 1 (upstairs): king size bed. Bedroom 2 (upstairs): 2 singles OR 1 king. Bedroom 3 (downstairs): 2 singles OR 1 king. House total: 3 to 5 beds. For king size, we secure the twins together with a heavy horizontal strap and center piece then cover with a king size topper and quality bedding. We'll have everything set to your preference before arrival. Most of our guests return so you know it's a comfortable setup. We supply all kinds of beach gear but recommend guests bring their own masks, snorkels, fins and life jackets, if desired, to ensure best fit. The protected sandy lagoon at Poipu is ideal for families. There are also 2 restaurants and several shops within a couple blocks. A car is recommended. Our home is among the closest to Poipu Beach Park with its protected shallow sandy lagoon, wide open grassy areas and playground equipment over a spongy ground surface. There is also superb snorkeling in the adjacent bay, body surfing and boogie boarding at Brennecke's Beach and board surfing on the outer reefs. Located on the sunny side of the island and centrally located, Aikane Kauai is convenient to beaches with an ocean view yet set back and landscaped for privacy. Enjoy coastal walks starting from your front door. Head east for the Mahaluepu Coastline or west for a variety of body surfing and snorkeling beaches. Shopping and dining are also nearby. The Poipu area offers great swimming and snorkeling even in the winter when Hawaii's famously large surf rolls in to the north and west coasts. The north shore is an hour away and the spectacular Waimea Canyon and Kokee State Park are an hour in the opposite direction. This gives you option of day trips to these beautiful areas within reasonable driving times.
